Goodbye My Brothers Online Series Guide 2026 Beginner Friendly Guide

Start With the Charge, Not With the App

Almost no context arrives with a renewal you did not expect. An unfamiliar company, a store name rather than an app name, or a meaningless code may be what your statement shows. The first job, before changing any setting, is to figure out which of three places actually took the money: Apple, Google, or the company’s own website. That answer decides where you cancel, who can refund you, and how long you have in which to ask. Buy on an iPhone and it is an App Store charge, even though it was the short drama app that made the offer. One on Android belongs to Google Play, and a Goodbye, My Brothers online browser purchase belongs to the company, beyond the reach of either store.

Deleting the App Does Not Cancel Your Subscription

This is the most common reason people are billed again after believing they were done. Apple’s support material says plainly that deleting an app from your device leaves its subscription running. Google’s wording matches it in substance: uninstalling an app does not cancel a subscription bought through Google Play. The reason is a structural one: the subscription is a record the store holds against your account, not a file inside the app. Whether or not the icon is still on your home screen, billing continues. Anyone who deleted a drama app and got charged again made a fair assumption, which is why the decision to cancel a subscription is a separate job.

Cancelling on an iPhone or iPad

One list at Apple holds every subscription, and it is the fastest of the three routes. You want Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions. Every active plan is listed there, the weekly passes that these apps favor included, and each one can be cancelled on its own. If the list looks short, you are probably signed in with a different Apple Account than the one used at purchase. Cancelling stops the next renewal rather than access itself, so the pass runs until the end of the paid period. Apple asks that cancellations come at least a day before renewal, so act when you decide.

  1. Open up Settings and tap on your name.
  2. Now tap Subscriptions.
  3. Select the app, then Cancel Subscription.
  4. Make sure the entry shows an expiry date.

Cancelling on an Android Phone

On Android the same list lives in the Play Store, not system settings. Open Google Play, tap the profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Entries are shown with renewal dates, and stopping one takes a tap and a confirmation. Access ordinarily continues to the end of the period you already paid for. Where several Google accounts share the phone, check each one, since a subscription follows the buying account. Google repeats the point made above: uninstalling changes nothing, so this list is the only place the decision registers.

  1. Open Google Play and tap your profile picture.
  2. Go to Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  3. Select the app, then Cancel subscription.
  4. Make sure the entry shows an end date.

Cancelling From Inside the App Itself

Some apps provide their own cancellation control, and ShortMax documents its version clearly. The terms say the subscription renews automatically twenty-four hours before the period expires, at the same price, and can be cancelled in the app under “About Subscription”. Store buyers are sent back by the same terms to App Store or Google Play subscriptions, and that is the part that matters. An in-app switch governs only what the app controls, and so if the money went through a store, the store list stays authoritative. The same is true of a reelshort subscription bought on an iPhone, with the app showing the plan and Apple holding the renewal. Unsure, do both, then confirm the store entry shows an expiry date.

Asking Apple for a Refund

Apple runs refunds through a single page, reportaproblem.apple.com, where you sign in and pick the charge out of your purchase history. You pick the item, choose a reason from the menu, and describe briefly what happened. Apple’s guidance says that a decision usually comes within twenty-four to forty-eight hours, by email rather than in the app. Keep the explanation plain and factual: the date, the amount, whether it was taken for a trial, and whether you watched anything. No penalty attaches to asking politely about a charge you were not expecting. Should it be declined, the reply usually explains the basis, which tells you whether making a second attempt is worth it.

How to Ask Google for a Refund

For self-service, Google Play runs on a tighter clock. The support material says that within forty-eight hours of a purchase you may be able to put in a refund request through the store, and afterwards you are sent to the developer. The second stage is where people stall, as the developer is a company they have never dealt with. The store listing publishes the developer name and, usually, a support contact, so start there. Send the order number from your Google Play receipt with the date and amount, since no team can trace a payment from a description. The decisions are two separate ones, so a refusal from the store does not settle the developer’s answer.

When the Purchase Was Made on a Website

Buying a pass or a coin pack on a company’s own site removes both stores from the picture. The terms you accepted at checkout then become the entire rulebook. My Drama’s terms of use illustrate this well: coin purchases are final, coins are forfeited after twelve months of inactivity, and web purchases are non-refundable except where the law demands otherwise. The same terms give users in the European Union and the United Kingdom a fourteen-day withdrawal right, the exception that last clause leaves room for. If you are covered by that right, say so plainly and give the purchase date. If it does not, a polite message can still work, though it is a request rather than a legal claim.

When You Cannot Identify the Drama App That Charged You

Unidentifiable charges are common, because the billing name is often the legal entity and not the brand on the icon. Start with your store purchase history, which lists charges by app and by date and usually solves it. If the charge shows up in neither store, it came from a website, so search your inbox for a receipt from that date. ShortMax customer service is a useful example: the company lists a service email address in its terms, and its replies on Google Play ask customers to include their account UID or put a clear subject on the message. That UID matters more than anything else you send, because it identifies your account within a library of tens of thousands of titles. Take a screenshot of the charge, note the amount and currency, and send everything in one message.

Where It Was Bought, Where to Fix It

The table compresses the routes, as the problem is one of matching a purchase to the correct counter. Start with the left column and ignore the rest until your row turns up. Deadlines are what people miss, so they get a column of their own. Weekly passes commonly run at about $19.99 a week in the US App Store as of September 2026, and prices vary by country and change without notice. A weekly cycle leaves far less warning than a monthly one, which is why speed matters. Bear in mind too that a coin pack is not a subscription: nothing to cancel, only a one-time charge.

Where it was bought Where cancelling happens How to request a refund The deadline
On an iPhone or iPad Settings, your name, Subscriptions Apple’s report a problem page Cancel a day ahead, reply in 24 to 48 hours
On an Android phone Google Play, Payments and subscriptions Play refund request, then the developer 48 hours self-service, then developer’s terms
Inside the app “About Subscription”, per ShortMax’s terms Company service email, quoting your UID Renewal set 24 hours before expiry
A company website The account page you originally signed up on A written request to company support My Drama: not refundable unless law requires it
A coin pack Nothing to cancel; it is one-time The store rules apply to the charge My Drama: coins final, forfeited after 12 idle months

What You Can Expect From the Reply

Because outcomes vary, go in with realistic, calibrated expectations rather than a promise. According to ShortMax’s terms, refunds are “not entertained unless the paid product/service is unusable for the reason of ShortMax”, and Hong Kong law governs the agreement. Other companies word it another way, yet tight refund policies are common. Public sentiment reflects the friction, with ReelShort holding a 1.3 out of 5 rating on Trustpilot from 250 reviews, billing and cancellation among the recurring themes. Read it as a reason to document your own request with care, not as a verdict on it. Keep the receipt and any reply together, check the statement after the next billing date, and if a charge still lands, your card issuer is the final stop.
